Marshall Dennehey Announces 2023 Shareholder Class - Largest in Firm's 60-Year History

Marshall Dennehey is pleased to announce that 20 attorneys, 12 men and eight women, have been elevated to shareholder effective January 1, 2023. The class is the largest in the firm’s 60-year history and all but one were previously associates of the firm.  These new shareholders represent the firm's four core departments – Casualty, Professional Liability, Health Care and Workers' Compensation – and come from 12 of the firm's 19 regional offices.

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

Daniel Dolente, Health Care Department
Daniel defends physicians and other health care providers, as well as physician's offices, nursing homes, outpatient centers, hospitals and health systems, in all types of litigation matters. He is routinely consulted outside of formal litigation to implement best practices and to identify issues and potential areas of liability. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and Widener University School of Law, and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Melanie J. Foreman, Casualty Department
Melanie defends insured and self-insured entities against claims in state and federal court. She focuses her practice on litigation related to product liability, premises and municipal liability, and commercial transportation. Melanie has served as lead trial counsel and as second chair in multiple civil litigations. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, she is devoted to numerous organizations that promote access to justice for all, including the the Philadelphia Bar Foundation where she is a member of its Board of Trustees. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York.

Andrew C. Goldstein, Casualty Department
Andrew defends insured and self-insured entities in a wide variety of matters involving personal injury claims, motor and commercial vehicle accidents, premises liability, product liability and trucking and transportation. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College and Widener University School of Law and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. 

Kimberly House, Casualty Department
Kim represents and defends product manufacturers, building materials suppliers, hotels, and construction companies in complex and oftentimes catastrophic personal injury claims and wrongful death suits. She is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Wake Forest University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Carolina. 

Christian A. Weimann, Casualty Department
Christian primarily handles cases involving product liability, product warranty, motor vehicle liability, and toxic tort litigation. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University and Villanova University School of Law, he is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Michael S. Miller, Jr., Casualty Department
Michael focuses his practice in the areas of general liability, including matters involving premises liability, trucking, transportation, and motor vehicle accidents. He also handles matters involving planned community association disputes and travel-related claims. He is a graduate of West Chester University and Widener University School of Law and is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.

Brad E. Haas, Casualty Department
Brad defends companies and individuals in a wide array of civil litigation matters. He has successfully litigated cases involving automobile and trucking liability, premises liability, breach of warranty, insurance coverage/bad faith litigation and general liability matters. Brad is a graduate of West Virginia University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. 

Lauren E. Purcell, Casualty Department
Lauren defends companies and individuals in civil litigation cases in both state and federal court.  She focuses her practice in the areas of product liability, premises liability, auto liability, construction liability, and liquor liability.  Lauren is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.

Robert J. Aldrich, III, Health Care Department
Rob devotes his practice to the defense of medical and dental malpractice, nursing home negligence, and other health care matters. He has represented nursing homes, doctors, dentists, oral surgeons, anesthesiologists, physician groups, surgical centers, medical device companies, podiatrists, physician assistants, certified registered nurse practitioners and nurses in a multitude of malpractice actions. He is also an active speaker and author on topics including management of health risk and claims, electronic medical records, audit trails and long-term care. Rob is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York.

G. Michael Garcia, II, Casualty Department
Michael focuses his practice on premises liability, motor vehicle personal injury, and municipal liability matters. He also handles civil rights defense, having previously served as an Erie County Assistant District Attorney for four years. Michael is a graduate of Gannon University and the University of Dayton School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.

Benjamin K. Durstein, Workers’ Compensation
Ben represents employers, insurance carriers and third-party administrators in defense of workers' compensation claims before the Industrial Accident Board and Delaware courts. A graduate of the University of Delaware and the Widener University School of Law, he is admitted to practice in Delaware.

Adam Fogarty, Casualty Department
Adam handles a wide variety of civil litigation matters involving personal injury and property damage claims. He frequently defends clients in matters of premises liability (residential, commercial, restaurant, and retail) and motor vehicle torts, including claims of wrongful death and punitive damages. Adam also has experience defending  construction defect, employment discrimination, negligent security, asbestos exposure, and product liability claims. He is a graduate of The College of New Jersey and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey School of Law. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. 

Jeremy J. Zacharias, RPLU, Professional Liability
Jeremy represents and defends attorneys, accountants, insurance producers, corporate directors and officers, and other licensed professionals when professional liability claims are brought against them. Jeremy also represents financial institutions in the defense of individual and class action lawsuits arising from claims under the FDCPA. Jeremy is a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). Sara W. Mazzolla, Casualty Department
Sara defends matters involving premises liability, amusements, sports and recreation, construction, automobile, and condominium/community association law. She also defends professional liability claims involving sports coaches and real estate professionals. A former U.S. International Team ice skater, Sara routinely represents sports facilities, World and Olympic coaches, athletes, sports teams, and contractors in a wide array of matters. Josie A. Scanlan, Casualty Department
Josie focuses her civil litigation practice on personal injury and property damage matters. She defends clients in the areas of premises liability, including retail, restaurants, condominium associations, and municipalities. She also frequently defends product liability, motor vehicle, and construction claims. Her clients range from large corporations to small business owners to individuals finding themselves as defendants in need of excellent representation. Jillian L. Dinehart, Casualty Department
Jillian defends corporate and individual insureds in product liability, construction, and other premises liability and personal injury claims.  She also has an extensive practice defending municipalities and their employees in high-risk contract and tort matters, including wrongful death actions, labor and employment issues, and allegations of civil rights violations.  She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Jillian is admitted to practice in Ohio and its corresponding federal circuit and district courts.

Nadia E. Niazi, Casualty Department
Nadia focuses her practice in the areas of general liability and medical malpractice defense litigation. She handles a variety of matters including personal injury, premises liability, retail liability, automobile liability, recreation liability, and health care liability matters. Nadia is a graduate of Iona College and Pace University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New York.   

LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK

Mark Volpi, Casualty Department (formerly Special Counsel)
Mark focuses his practice on high-exposure construction claims, insurance coverage disputes, subrogation claims, and premises liability cases. An experienced litigator, he frequently argues before the New York State Appellate Division on a variety of matters including construction litigation and the defense of police departments and municipalities. Mark is a graduate of Tulane University and St. John’s University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in New York.

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

Kelly Scifres, Workers’ Compensation Department
Kelly represents and advises insured and uninsured employers in workers' compensation litigation and compliance matters in the state of Florida. Kelly defends clients in matters involving workers' compensation coverage compliance investigations, stop work orders, penalty assessments, business records request and audits imposed by the Division of Workers' Compensation. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, she received her J.D. from the Florida Coastal School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Florida. 

Robert E. Williams, Casualty Department
Rob litigates a wide range of general liability matters representing insureds and self insureds, individuals and national corporations in cases involving motor vehicle liability, premises liability, first party and third party property insurance, product liability, and personal injury. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Rob is admitted to practice in Florida.
