Attorneys received a defense verdict in a binding, non-appealable, multi-day arbitration. Claimant alleged that a national broker dealer client defamed him by maliciously reporting the basis for his termination from the firm and sought a reformation of his regulatory record to reflect that he voluntarily resigned and was not subject to any internal investigation by the firm. Claimant also sought compensatory damages, attorneys fees, and punitive damages. However, the arbitration panel determined that defendant did not set forth an untrue basis for Claimant's involuntary termination from the firm and that such information was not defamatory. The panel denied Claimant's claims in their entirety.
