Attorneys received a defense verdict after a three week jury trial.  We defended lawyers who were sued in a Dragonetti case.  The underlying case originally filed by the clients involved the misappropriation of trade secrets and violation of a written restrictive covenant, which could not be located.  Remarkably, the lawyers actually won the underlying case but that determination was reversed on appeal.  The former client, who had also been sued, settled out for his policy limits.  Plaintiff was seeking a large sum in lost profits from the lawyers and was also seeking punitive damages.  After over two days of deliberations, the jury agreed that the plaintiff had not proved that the lawyers had an improper purpose and so were not required to reach the more difficult issues of probable cause and gross negligence.
