Attorneys obtained summary judgment in a civil rights action against an Area School District and two of its former administrators. The plaintiff was a high school student who claimed she was subjected to bullying by several of her basketball teammates, which purportedly caused her to quit the team and not participate in a number of extracurricular activities during her senior year, including her senior prom and graduation. The plaintiff claimed the District and the individual administrators violated her First and Fourth Amendment rights in failing to adequately respond to and investigate the complaints of bullying that she and her parents raised against her teammates. The judge found that the plaintiff failed as a matter of law to demonstrate that her constitutional rights had been violated in any respect and dismissed the complaint in its entirety.
