Melanie J. Foreman Elected to the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association

Melanie J. Foreman, associate in the Philadelphia office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Ms. Foreman is one of five attorneys who will serve on a three-year term on the Board, effective January 2021 through December 2024.

The Board of Governors establishes the official policy of the Philadelphia Bar Association and looks to the Association's sections and committees for recommendations on areas of interest or concern. Procedurally, sections or committees present resolutions to the Board with a full report on the issues involved and include supporting and opposing views. The Board of Governors adopts or rejects the resolution as the official stance of the Philadelphia Bar Association, to be accordingly acted upon by the Chancellor and staff.

A member of Marshall Dennehey’s Casualty Department, Ms. Foreman focuses her practice on litigation related to product liability, premises and municipal liability, and commercial transportation. Outside of the office, she is tireless in devoting her time and energy to multiple causes of the Philadelphia Bar Association and to other civic and community organizations. She is a former Executive Committee member of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (2015 – 2017). She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Temple American Inn of Court. She is additionally a member of the Board of Directors of Community Legal Services (CLS), and is the Founding Chair of “Justice Rising,” a young professionals organization associated with CLS dedicated to access to justice.

She is additionally a member of Impact100 Philadelphia, a women’s group devoted to philanthropic causes in the community. She also serves as the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Interviewing Co-Chair for the Philadelphia Region. Beyond these activities and her busy legal practice, Melanie still finds time to play the trombone in Marshall Dennehey’s in-house rock band, “Marshall Dennehey and the Class Action Horns.”

“As lawyers, members of the Philadelphia Bar Association enjoy a privileged status.  Many of us have been very fortunate in our careers and personal lives.  Through the Bar Association, we are uniquely positioned to help those members of our community who may not have such providence.  The Association is a pillar of not just the legal field, but of the City as a whole.  In becoming a member of the Board of Governors, I hope to continue the Association’s long history of community engagement,” she said.

Ms. Foreman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the University of Pennsylvania. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York.
