Matthew Keris and Jason Banonis Elected Leaders of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute

Matthew P. Keris, shareholder in the Scranton office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, was elected President of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute (PDI) at the organization's recent annual conference. Additionally, Jason Banonis, shareholder in the firm's Bethlehem office, was elected Vice President - North, of the organization. Comprised of lawyers and insurance professionals from across the state, the PDI provides education and networking opportunities for those who defend damages suits and administer claims.

Mr. Keris joined Marshall Dennehey in 2005 is a member of the firm's Health Care Department where he represents physicians, medical groups and health care institutions in a variety of health care liability matters. In addition to his defense practice, he lectures nationally and writes extensively on litigation issues pertaining to the use of electronic medical records. A graduate of Shippensburg University and Roger Williams University School of Law, Mr. Keris is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York. In addition to the PDI, he is a member of the Pennsylvania and Lackawanna County Bar Associations, the Pennsylvania Association for Health Care Risk Management, American Society for Health Risk Management, Defense Research Institute and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.

For 15 years, Mr. Banonis has focused his practice on the defense of casualty matters ranging from premises and products liability to trucking and transportation, sports and entertainment, liquor, and professional and general liability legal issues. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Defense Research Institute, the American, Pennsylvania and Lehigh Bar Associations and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). He is a graduate of Bucknell University and received his J.D. at Widener University School of Law.
