On the Pulse...Other Notable Achievements

On December 9, 2013, at our annual shareholders’ meeting, 15 attorneys, nearly half of them women, were elected shareholders of the firm. The new shareholders are: Aaron E. Moore, David S. Wolf, Elizabeth A. Pope, Jennifer P. Reno, Leo A. Bohanski, William J. McPartland, Lauren M. Burnette, J. Jeffrey Watson, Melissa D. Cochran, Alicia L. Calaf, Christopher J. Gonnella, Rosalind B. Herschthal, Keri L. Morris, Douglas T. Walsh and Thomas F. Brown. Additionally, Kimberly Boyer-Cohen, a member of the Professional Liability Department in Philadelphia, and Timothy Jaeger, a member of the Casualty Department in Roseland, were named Special Counsel.

Ronda O’Donnell (Philadelphia, PA) has been named Chair of the Employment Law Practice Group in the firm’s Professional Liability Department. She will replace Tom DeLorenzo, practice group leader and longtime firm shareholder, who retired on December 31.

Marshall Dennehey has been named among Corporate Counsel magazine’s 2014 Go-To Law Firms® for America’s 500 largest companies. Firms were recognized for providing exceptional work to Fortune 500® clients. Marshall Dennehey was cited as the #1 firm in the Torts Litigation category. Marshall Dennehey and the other selected 2014 Go-To Law Firms will be listed in the 2014 edition of Corporate Counsel’s In-House Law Departments at the Top 500 Companies reference guide, to be published early next year.

Thom Lent (Erie, PA) was appointed to serve as chair of the Civil Litigation section of the Erie County Bar Association.

Jay Habas (Erie, PA) was appointed to serve as vice chair of the Workers’ Compensation section of the Erie County Bar Association.

Tony Natale (Philadelphia, PA) was a featured guest on “The American Law Journal,” a weekly legal television program. On the episode, titled Workers’ Comp: Modifying & Terminating Benefits...as WCAIS Rolls Out, Tony and two other guests (a workers’ compensation judge and a plaintiff’s attorney) discussed strategies regarding termination of benefits and earning power evaluations, and modification of benefits through job offers.

Lauren Burnette (Harrisburg, PA) was selected as a member of ACA International Members’ Attorney Program’s Sanction Review Panel.

Lary Zucker (Cherry Hill, NJ) recently presented two seminars at the World Waterpark Association Trade Show and Conference in West Palm Beach regarding water park safety signage and legal trends in the water park industry.

Christopher Block (Roseland, NJ) spoke at the Professional Liability Defense Federation’s Annual Conference and CLE/CEU Presentation in Chicago, Illinois. He presented on the topic Primer on Claims and Risk Management Issues for Real Estate Agents and Home Inspectors and discussed the emerging issues in real estate agent claims and potential damage exposure faced by real estate professionals.

Jeff Rapattoni (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Beau Hollowell (Cleveland, OH) recently presented Effectively Managing Contemporary Insurance Fraud Issues at the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators’ 2013 Advanced Insurance Fraud Seminar held in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dan McDermott (New York, NY) was one of four panelists who spoke on the featured topic of Uniformity of Maritime Law in a Global Context at a joint conference of the Maritime Law Association (MLA) and Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Maritimo held in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The panelists included attorneys from Panama, Dominican Republic and a federal appellate judge from Canada. Dan spoke of the role the MLA has played in seeking uniformity in the field of maritime law and encouraging its efforts in Congress to ratify various treaties and conventions with our international trading nations. More than 400 maritime professionals were in attendance.

John O’Brien (Roseland, NJ) participated at the Newark session of the National Business Institute seminar entitled Construction Defect Litigation: From A to Z. His topic was Anatomy of a Defect: What It Is and The Rules That Apply. He also authored the chapter for the course book on his topic which was distributed at both the Newark and Princeton sessions.
