Recognition

Bradley Goewert (Wilmington, DE) was voted as the Top Delaware Healthcare Attorney for 2019 by Delaware Today.

Niki Ingram (Philadelphia, PA) is a recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2019 Minority Business Leader Awards, which is given in recognition of the Philadelphia region’s top minority business leaders, based on professional accomplishments, community leadership, philanthropy, and awards and milestones.

Appointments

Elizabeth Ferguson (Jacksonville, FL) has been appointed vice-chair for the Florida Bar Grievance Committee 4A. Grievance committees are made up of volunteer members, at least one-third of whom are not lawyers. Each of Florida’s 20 judicial circuits has at least one such committee. The grievance committee reviews complaints with much the same purpose as a grand jury. That is, the committee decides, after a case is submitted to it by bar counsel, whether there is probable cause to believe a lawyer violated the professional conduct rules imposed by the Supreme Court of Florida, and whether discipline against the lawyer appears to be warranted.

Samuel Cohen (Philadelphia, PA) has been appointed to serve on the Special Olympics PA-Philadelphia Executive Advisory Board for a three-year term. The Executive Advisory Board assists the Special Olympics Philadelphia chapter in opening doors to key community and corporate contacts, raising funding for the program, providing high-level support of its strategic objectives and, in general, advocating on behalf of its athletes and mission.

Articles

Jennie Philip (Philadelphia, PA) authored the article, “Sari, Not Sorry: Understanding the Value of Diversity,” that appeared in the September 2019 issue of Claims Magazine. The articles shines light on how diversity in claims handling can positively impact the resolution of a claim.

Seminars

Janice Merrill and Chanel Mosley (Orlando, FL) presented the case law update in the plenary session at the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety Annual Conference in Orlando. The presentation covered recent, notable cases from across the state of Florida impacting health care, medical malpractice litigation and risk management.
