Pennsylvania Sees Growth in Special Educators as State Invests $1M in Accelerated Certification Programs

Pennsylvania’s most recent Act 82 report shows an increase of 762 certified Pre-K-12 special educators over the past two years. 

Additionally, the Pennsylvania Department of Education recently announced that a second round of awards for its Accelerated Special Educator Certification Program will provide more than $1 million in funding to six returning and eight new postsecondary institutions, intended to expand their accelerated certification programming and train more special educators to enter the classroom.
