Attorneys obtained a defense verdict in a binding fire loss arbitration. Plaintiff claimed water damage resulting from three fires that occurred at our clients' investment property. Plaintiff occupied the home adjacent to our clients' rental property. Our clients' rental property was the subject of three separate incidents of racially motivated arson. The attorneys' recognized that the fires were not random events. Rather, there was a pattern to when the fires happened. The first fire occurred on the night of July 4th. The second fire occurred on the Chinese Lunar New Year. The third fire occurred on the Viet Namese Lunar New Year. This pattern helped to further illustrate that the fires were the intentional acts of a third party, over which our clients had no control. The arbitrator found our arguments compelling and found in favor of our clients.
