Monica L. Simmons
Monica is a member of the Professional Liability Department in the firm's Philadelphia office, where she represents public entities and municipal officials in civil rights and employment litigation.
Monica graduated from the University of Delaware in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She worked as a copy editor for a daily newspaper in the Philadelphia area before enrolling in law school at Drexel University's Earle Mack School of Law in the fall of 2009. During law school, Monica interned for the Honorable Joseph H. Rodriguez, of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and served as a member of both the Drexel Law Review and the school's moot court board. She received her juris doctor in 2012.
After graduation, Monica clerked for the Honorable William L. Witham of the Delaware Superior Court before joining the Delaware Department of Justice's Domestic Violence Unit in 2013. While working at the DOJ, Monica gained considerable trial experience and oversaw domestic violence and child abuse prosecutions.
Before joining Marshall Dennehey, Monica served as a law clerk to the Honorable Nitza I. Quiñones Alejandro of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Monica is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
