Karen E. Grethlein

Associate

Karen is an associate in the Professional Liability Department where she handles a wide variety of litigation arising from disputes relating to construction defect, construction injury, intellectual property and premises liability. Karen is also part of the firm's growing Privacy and Data Security Practice Group, where she advises clients of their statutory reporting obligations following a data breach. Karen encourages clients to adopt a proactive approach to data security. She counsels clients in compliance with respect to cyber-attacks, HIPAA, employee usage of social media and limiting the number of persons in an organization with access to protected information.

In the area of construction defect and injury litigation, Karen has represented various construction professionals, including general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects and property owners. Her knowledge of construction jobsite safety practices, as well as of construction industry standards concerning contractual indemnification. has been of significant help to her clients. 

Karen was elected to serve as the president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) for the 2020-2021 year.
