Karen E. Grethlein


Karen is an associate in the Professional Liability Department where she handles a wide variety of professional liability cases including Architectural, Engineering and Construction Defect Litigation, Employment Law, Education Law, and Professional Liability for Accountants. Karen is also part of the firm's growing Data Breach & Cybersecurity group. She advises clients regarding their obligations with respect to compromised data, cyber attacks, and employee usage of social media.

Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey, Karen was an associate at a prominent defense firm in Montgomery County where her practice included premises liability, automobile liability, employment litigation, and authoring coverage opinions for insurance carriers. Before that, Karen clerked for the Hon. Wade Kagarise of the Blair County Court of Common Pleas. As a clerk, Karen assisted in drafting opinions on a wide variety of civil and criminal matters, with an emphasis on determining evidentiary disputes, motion practice, and preparing 1925(b) appeals for the appellate court.

Karen is a voting member of the House of Delegates, which is the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s statewide policy making body. She was appointed in 2019 to serve a 3 year term as the Young Lawyer Delegate for Philadelphia. Karen co-chairs the Philadelphia Zone of the Young Lawyers Division of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and serves as a Member At Large on the Executive Council of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Women in the Profession.
