North Jersey Media Group v. Englewood Public School District

OPRA mandates release of public records for outsourcing jobs.

The plaintiff filed an action seeking a judgment declaring the defendant-school district and its custodian of records in violation of the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) and in violation of the common law right of access to public records. The plaintiff sought records pertaining to outsourcing positions. The court held that the privacy rights of those employees were not implicated because, as the disclosure of this information was minimally intrusive and those employees worked openly with others and in a public setting, all those involved should be aware that the defendant is subject to OPRA.
