In Philadelphia, Stephen A. Ryan was selected the 2019 Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants "Lawyer of the Year" for the third time in the last five years, having previously received this recognition in 2014 and 2016. He chairs both the Birth and Catastrophic Injury and the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Liability Practice Groups at Marshall Dennehey. He has 40+ years of medical malpractice litigation experience and has tried more than 220 major medical malpractice cases to verdict. In addition to defending hospitals, physicians and all manner of health care facilities and professionals, Mr. Ryan also represents drug and medical device manufacturers in litigation and monitors these cases and all birth injury defense cases firmwide. He is a graduate of Villanova University and the Villanova University School of Law.

In Pittsburgh, Christian D. Marquis was selected the 2019 Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants "Lawyer of the Year." In addition to personal injury litigation, Mr. Marquis focuses his practice on the defense of professionals, public entities, police officers and public officials. He has handled numerous cases defending public entities and public officials in matters involving general negligence and intentional tort claims, land use and zoning issues including municipal statutory appeals, mandamus and inverse condemnation claims, and administrative regulatory issues. Mr. Marquis also defends public entities, public officials and police officers in civil rights actions including land use and zoning denials, unlawful use of force, wrongful arrest and malicious prosecution claims, and also wrongful termination and discrimination claims. He holds bachelor's degrees from both Saint Vincent College and Pennsylvania State University, and he earned his juris doctor from the New England School of Law, Boston, Massachusetts, in 1999.
