Workers' Compensation Summit

Event Host:
Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry
Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey, 4650 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, PA
Wednesday, October 1, 2014 - 8:00am to 12:00pm

Three members of Marshall Dennehey's Workers' Compensation Department will be featured speakers at the Workers' Compensation Summit sponsored by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. The purpose of the Summit is to provide a basic understanding of workers' compensation and remove confusion from the "gray areas" of the law, explain the relationship between Medicare and workers' compensation, cover new and hot topics, and provide solutions to companies' biggest mistakes.

Niki Ingram, Director of the Workers' Compensation Department, and Tony Natale, Shareholder, will present "Social Media and Workers’ Compensation, and Handling Unusual WC Situations." They will address how social media has transformed the working world, and how and when an employer can use social media to detect and prevent workers' compensation fraud. They will also cover some of the more unusual situations where employees can be injured while working for a company, including working from home, a company's parking lot and attending the summer picnic, and offer practical solutions.

James Pocius, Shareholder and Chair of the Medicare Set-Aside Practice Group, will present "Worker’s Compensation and Medicare Update and the Top 10 Mistakes Companies Make in Complying." Jim will provide an update on the latest requirements with Medicare and workers' compensation, as well as best practices companies should adopt to ensure they are in compliance. He will also touch on some of the details of the recently enacted medical marijuana laws and what it could mean to companies if Pennsylvania follows this growing trend.
