Ronda O'Donnell, Shareholder in Marshall Dennehey's Professional Liability Department, will be presenting on the topic "Social Media: Landmine or Goldmine in the Employment Law Arena?"

Social media information can be both useful and dangerous to employers in the hiring, review and termination of employees. This session will explore social media in the employment law environment, with examples from the workplace, courts, and the perspective of the National Labor Relations Board, which is playing an increasing role in addressing how employers may seek to use or limit social media at work. The panelists will also discuss professional and ethical considerations in performing social media investigations of prospective employees. The program will culminate with a look at how social media has created a new liability frontier for individuals who may be employers or owners of companies, and who may make unintended disclosures on social media that could trigger liability through their personal umbrella coverage.
