Project Manager - 3+ Yrs Experience - Philadelphia, PA

The law firm of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin seeks a Project Manager for its Philadelphia, PA office.

The Project Manager is responsible for project and portfolio management for the firm's Information Technology department.   The Project Manager assists in project definition and scoping; creates and maintains project plans;  defines project schedules;  ensures that project objectives are agreed upon, tracked, and met; and maintains relevant project and portfolio management applications to ensure that all IT projects are proceeding on time and within scope.

This position is a member of the Information Technology team based in the firm's Philadelphia headquarters and reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Work with IT project owners and business stakeholders to define project objectives, resources, scope, and budget
  • Create, maintain, and/or oversee project plans
  • Monitor project progress and ensure that objectives are being met
    • Gather and consolidate information from project resources
    • Lead project meetings
    • Ensure that action items and status are clearly communicated
    • Set clear expectations and goals
    • Schedule meetings and other project activities as required
    • Manage issue and risk tracking; conduct triage and track resolution
    • Ensure that budgetary constraints are adhered to; track progress against budget
    • Promptly inform stakeholders and project owners as issues or risks arise
  • Manage the IT project portfolio
    • Work with IT departmental managers to ensure that resources are properly allocated and recorded
    • Work with IT management team to develop, scope, and estimate timeframes for potential new projects in accordance with the annual IT budget process
    • Develop management reports and procedures to track overall health and progress of active projects
    • Work with IT management to build and maintain a framework for consistent delivery of project management, including, for example, development and enforcement of project intake procedures and development of project templates
  • Manage vendor relationships on projects requiring significant consultant and/or vendor participation

 

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in a project management role for a mid-sized or large organization;  PMP certification preferred
  • Must have experience in managing both "agile" and "waterfall" projects
  • Experience working within a PMO is desired
  • Experience with portfolio management is desired
  • Experience with change management
  • Strong commitment to project success;  willingness and ability to take personal ownership to ensure that project goals are met
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to form close working relationships with IT managers and other stakeholders
    • Diplomatic and respectful:  ability to "push" without being "pushy"
    • Comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to get to the core of issues;  a keen grasp of what's important
  • Exceptional documentation and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated expertise with project and portfolio management toolsets
  • Familiarity with a variety of project management tools is a plus
