Assistant Director of Information Technology – Philadelphia, PA

The law firm of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Information Technology join its growing Center City Philadelphia office.

The Assistant Director of Information Technology works closely with the Director of Information Technology to oversee all aspects of daily operations for the firm's Information Technology Department. Primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director include oversight of day-to-day IT operations, direct management of several IT teams, and mentoring of departmental managers and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for major initiatives and cross-functional projects within the IT Department
  • Work closely with IT managers and staff to monitor daily IT operations; provide management-level resolution of complex or sensitive issues
  • Act as a trusted advisor and mentor for all IT managers and staff; work closely with the IT Director to establish short and long term goals for IT departments and individuals, and to provide opportunities for professional development and growth for all IT employees
  • Collect and analyze incoming data, and research emerging technologies, in order to provide recommendations for continuous improvement of IT services
  • Oversee and participate in all aspects of human resource management of assigned IT teams
  • Plan, implement, and approve operating and capital budgets for assigned IT teams
  • Assist the IT Director in strategic planning and in development of the annual IT departmental budget
  • Evaluate, continually refine, promote, and enforce IT policies and procedures
  • Develop strong relationships with key personnel throughout the firm in order to better align IT with firm objectives and user needs

 

Qualifications:

  • At least six years of progressive management experience in a law firm or professional services IT department
  • A broad range of professional experience in multiple IT disciplines, such as applications support, desktop engineering, server and network administration, help desk management, project and program management, and/or application development
  • Superior interpersonal skills: respectful and team-oriented, customer-focused, ability to "push" without being "pushy", ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and finesse
  • Exceptional awareness and work ethic: strong sense of ownership of personal and departmental work, doing what is needed without being asked, a good understanding of what's important
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to provide clear direction for project teams, and the ability to provide clear and concise written documentation and analysis
